What happens when Joss Whedon visits Best Week Ever

July 17th, 2008 | Category: Teh Intarwebs, Vlogs

Christ. You’d think I’m some kind of Whedon fanboy. Fact is, I live in Michigan, in my parent’s basement, jobless and only half in school, and have nothing better to do at the moment. Wow. Never listed my life all “bam, bam, bam” like that before. I’m like the friggin’ poster boy for Whedon’s core audience. Great.

Joss Whedon’s Dark Horse Comics Presents

July 09th, 2008 | Category: Nerdy Geekdom Rules, Vlogs

The first installment of Dr. Horrible and Captain Hammer’s escapades in e-comic book format wooha!

Yeah, it’s at MySpace (unfortunately), but at least the site isn’t a fugly hellish trainwreck so common among the MySpace hipsters, which is good.

Oh yes, one more thing – check out the “Follow me” page and toss me some feedback as to how completely disgusting it looks. I’ve been playing around with FriendFeed and Dipity, each of which have their own virtues that I’ll probably write about later. The idea with both of them, it seems, is to consolidate activity in this new Web 2.0 craziness, which up until their creation, depended upon ridiculously heavy use of RSS aggregators, Adobe AIR clients, and god knows what else. Given my hatred of Facebook and MySpace, who I continually argue just don’t get it when it comes to social networking (yeah yeah I know they’re making millions, but just you watch, they’ll die off soon enough!) I kind of like the idea behind FriendFeed – let people chose whatever services they like best online (instead of forcing them into the craptasm that is Facebook apps), and just monitor all the activity they chose to share.

It’s really kinda sweet, and I suppose if they’d pretty up the site itself, and make it not look so foofy, I might actually visit it, instead of trying to re-create it through widgets (which ultimately bring them no eyeballs and no chance for ad revenue).

Anyway, I’m off to bed. Didn’t get much sleep last night and I’m not feeling particularly interesting tonight. Cheerio all!

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog Coming Soon!!

June 25th, 2008 | Category: Comedy, Movies, Nerdy Geekdom Rules, Teh Intarwebs, Vlogs

Here’s a very personal OMG moment… most even remotely “in the know” Sci-Fi geek-chic types are probably well aware that Joss Whedon (of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly/Serenity fame) has been working on a new show to air on the Fox network called Dollhouse. This is very good news, since it’s been made plainly clear that geeks around the nation do indeed like good sci-fi, that they will emphatically support it (even when it’s unfairly cancelled after a slurry of network exec slip-ups that killed the show), and that Joss Whedon knows how to do the job right.

Well, after a 14-episode run of Firefly, which still remains at the front page of Hulu’s most favored television series, even after being cancelled for 7 years now, Whedon fans have been left to wonder if the creator of silly, over-the-top science fiction with a heart (something I like to call “SFWAH!”…. okay, not really in public) will be left shorted again by Fox’s ongoing penchant for shooting its own original series’ futures in their own respective feet, believing that The Simpsons will somehow survive as the network’s One Ring to Rule them All for the next 20 years (unlikely).

Seems however that Whedon himself has smartened up, as he has just released the trailer to his new online video show: Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog! The show is an absolute ringer for the online Whedon fan community, as the show will be starring Neil Patrick Harris (yeah, that’s right, Doogie Howser) as Dr. Horrible, Nathan Fillion (of Firefly) as Captain Hammer, and The Guild’s own uber-hot super geek Felecia Day as Penny.

How can this possibly fail? Well, hopefully Joss has a source of revenue attached to the project… but other than that, HOW can this fail? Be sure to let all your fellow geeky friends know to check out the Dr. Horrible’s site, become a Facebook Fan, and perhaps point them in the direction of ForeverSingh.com for anything they might be missing in the realm of geeky media. I could use some more readers. :)

Check the trailer out below, y’all, and peeceowt.

The Guild season Finale! Ep 10: Boss Fight!

May 22nd, 2008 | Category: Comedy, Gaming, Nerdy Geekdom Rules, Teh Intarwebs, Vlogs
Wow… busy day on the web. One of my favorite ‘net shows, The Guild (starring the uber-hotty Cheetos girl and rampant video game nerd, Felicia Day) just released what they’re calling the “finale”, although I’m unsure whether that means “finale for the season” or “finale as in we’re never making any more of The Guild, just as it started to get silly popular”. I for one don’t think 10, 2-minute episodes is enough to say “whew, we’ve had it! It’s time to move on to bigger, brighter things”, but since I’ve never actually completed a webisode of any importance, I suppose I shouldn’t talk.

Anyway, without further ado, here’s The Guild, Episode 10:

Oh, to be that pudding…
